NaGraNoWriMo?

Last year I participated in NaNoWriMo--kinda--by starting NaGraNoWriMo (National Graphic Novel Writing Month). The concept was to write the script for a 175-page graphic novel during the month of November. Four people participated, but I believe only one of us was successful (not me--I only got about 30 pages of script written).

I'm considering trying again, though I haven't decided yet. I have a concept in mind, it's just whether or not I'll have the time. But since November is just a week away, I guess I'll have to make up my mind soon...

NaGraNoWriMo Starts Today!

Today is the start of NaGraNoWriMo, and I'll be attempting to write the script for a 175-page graphic novel over the next 30 days. At least three other comic bloggers are joining me; how about you?

Sadly, this means that I'll probably have even less time to post to this blog than usual, so don't be surprised if posting frequency drops off a bit this month. (Or maybe I'll get stuck in huge writing blocks and I'll post like a madman to avoid actual writing...)

One Week to NaGraNoWriMo!

Just one week remaining until I start in on NaGraNoWriMo: National Graphic Novel Writing Month. It's my version of NaNoWriMo, in which I'm going to try to write the script to a 175-page graphic novel during the month of November.

I've pretty much decided on which of my ideas I'm going to attempt, but now I'm getting all nervous about whether or not I'll be able to make it through. I've never written a comic script for anything before, so 175 pages seems like a big task. I'm sure that I'll learn a lot in the process, and in the rules of NaNoWriMo, it doesn't have to be good, it just has to get done!

At least one other person has said that they'll join in as well. Any more takers? Who knows--maybe we can start a new movement!

NaGraNoWriMo

Some of you may be familiar with National Novel Writing Month (aka NaNoWriMo), where the goal is to write a 175-page (50K words) novel during the month of November.

I've decided that I'm going to participate this year, but with a twist.

I'm turning it into National Graphic Novel Writing Month. I'm going to try to write the script for a 175-page graphic novel (a la a TokyoPop or Seven Seas OEL manga book) during the month of November.

I've never writen a comic script before, so I'm sure that the final product won't be much good. But hey, who knows?! I'm not even sure yet what it'll be about, although I have a couple of ideas. In any event, it should prove to be challenging and illuminating; and maybe even a little fun!
