* Y, the Last Man makes a strong showing this week, with the first volume rocketing up twenty-two places, and three more volumes debuting on the list.

* While pre-orders on the fifth Scott Pilgrim volume remain strong, interest in the previous volumes has waned after the surge last week.
* Sales on Watchmen are probably keeping all of the rest of DC Comics afloat. Not only do the paperback & hardcover remain in the top five, but the expensive absolute edition surged up from 49 to 14.
* DC also have strong pre-order sales with their two high-profile Grant Morrison projects: Batman RIP & All-Star Superman.
* Interest in the Obama Spider-Man third-party market is officially over. Only the 3rd printing still shows up in the top fifty; it plummets from 8 down to 35 and goes for as little as $3.79
* The highest debut belongs to a pre-order for the latest Ultimate Spider-Man volume. In fact, with the exception of the aforementioned Obama-Spidey comic back issue, Brian Michael Bendis is responsible for all of Marvel's charting graphic novels. (The Marvel Encyclopedia is actually a Dorling Kindersly publication.)
* For no discernable reason there's a mini surge of interest in strip collections, with The Complete Calvin & Hobbes jumping way up (I think there was a modest price drop), and a Dick Tracy volume and the old Complete Far Side both debuting on the chart.

Commentary:
* While pre-orders on the fifth Scott Pilgrim volume remain strong, interest in the previous volumes has waned after the surge last week.
* Sales on Watchmen are probably keeping all of the rest of DC Comics afloat. Not only do the paperback & hardcover remain in the top five, but the expensive absolute edition surged up from 49 to 14.
* DC also have strong pre-order sales with their two high-profile Grant Morrison projects: Batman RIP & All-Star Superman.
* Interest in the Obama Spider-Man third-party market is officially over. Only the 3rd printing still shows up in the top fifty; it plummets from 8 down to 35 and goes for as little as $3.79
* The highest debut belongs to a pre-order for the latest Ultimate Spider-Man volume. In fact, with the exception of the aforementioned Obama-Spidey comic back issue, Brian Michael Bendis is responsible for all of Marvel's charting graphic novels. (The Marvel Encyclopedia is actually a Dorling Kindersly publication.)
* For no discernable reason there's a mini surge of interest in strip collections, with The Complete Calvin & Hobbes jumping way up (I think there was a modest price drop), and a Dick Tracy volume and the old Complete Far Side both debuting on the chart.

In addition to the aforementioned totally awesome news that Yotsuba&! is returning, here is other news out of NYCC that makes me happy:
Marvel is doing a series of Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers. Marvel should seriously turn over total control of the Marvel Universe to the editing reins of Nate Cosby, because then every comic they put out would be awesome! (link)
Greg Rucka will be writing Detective Comics, featuring Batwoman and bringing in many characters from him old Gotham Central series. Also, Grant Morrison returns to Batman in June. (link)

Sunday is Monkey Covers day here at YACB. Because there's nothing better than a comic with a monkey on the cover!I've heard of maving a monkey on your back, but being on the back of a monkey is a whole different story on Andi Watson's cover to Skeleton Key #22 (1997).

* Huge upward movement on Scott Pilgrim, with the latest (still in pre-order) rocketing up thirty-six places, and vols 1-3 also showing up in the rankings.
* Batman RIP, also as a pre-order, shoots up the charts as well. Not exactly sure why the sudden movement, although it fits in with the general Bat-mania on the Amazon charts.
* Naruto volumes come out of pre-order and jump up too. It appears that Viz released four volumes simultaneously to the bookstore market (which I don't think they did via Diamond).
* The shine seems to be wearing off for the Spider-Obama comics in the third-party market. With five printings now available, it must be the case that everyone who wants a copy probably has one. How long until they're selling for $1 on eBay?

Kyle Baker does Hawkman
Apparently Kyle Baker is writing and drawing a Hawkman project for DC (the previous announcement of which I sadly missed.).Baker is both writing and drawing, and has posted three pages of art on his blog, including a scene of Hawkman fighting a giant crab monster on the wing of an airplane.
This, my friends, promises to be seven kinds of awesome.
