Here are the grosses of comic book-related movies released in 2023—ranked by domestic (U.S.) box office—according to Box Office Mojo:

5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem: $119M ($180M)
   
6. The Flash: $108M ($271M)
   
7. The Marvels: $85M ($206M)
   
8. Blue Beetle: $72M ($131M)
   
9. Shazam! Fury of the Gods: $58M ($134M)
   
10. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba – To the Swordsmith Village: $10M ($56M)
    
11. Knights of the Zodiac: $1M ($7M)

This year we put the Worldwide box office in parentheses after the domestic box office, where you can see that Guardians 3 was the top comic book film worldwide, and many (though not all) of the movies did more business overseas than domestically.

Commentary:  

• Ultimate Spider-Man #2 showed up as a pre-order last month, and now it returns with its release this week, and at the top no less. Marvel have to be happy with the performance of their new Ultimate universe so far.
• The top debut this week is a new issue of Rise of the Powers of X; the top print debut is the latest volume of Villains Are Destined to Die. The only other non-single issue debut is a forthcoming volume of Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro on Kindle.

Commentary:  

• Actually Waverider wasn't on the comics chart this week, but it's overall sales rank placed it comfortably ahead of The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse; which means that Amazon decided to reclassify it—probably with the kids graphic novels—even though the Amulet #1-8 Box Set remains on the main comics chart. I'm not going to go and cross check the kids chart and the main chart every week, but when a great injustice like this is done I'll make an exception.
• The top debut this week is the Kindle edition of the new issue of Fall of the House of X, which leads a relatively light batch of Kindle single issues this week.
• Print debuts are led by pre-orders for the two recently announced DC Versus Marvel team-up omnibuses that were announced this week. Two more pre-orders round out this week's debuts: X-Men: The Manga: Remastered and a forthcoming volume of Judd Winick's Hilo series.

Commentary: 

• Apropos for Groundhog Day, this week's top three comics are the same as last week's, with the final volume of Amulet once again leading the way.
• The top debut this week is the first issue of Dead X-Men, as apparently the Krakoan Saga is moving towards a resolution later this year.
• The top print debut this week is Good Talk: A Memoir in Conversations, Mira Jacob's graphic memoir that was published back in 2020.
