• Several new titles on the chart this week, led by the pre-order for a new volume of Hilo.  
• Also debuting this week are I Love You and Cheese Pizza—a part comics/part picture book from Brenda Li—and several new volumes of Manga titles:  Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro; Jujutsu Kaisen; BEASTARS; and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
• 2021 Calendars are starting to slide off the chart, though the Far Side Theme-a-Month 2021 Off-The-Wall Calendar stays in the top ten.

Commentary: 

• The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, stays on top of the chart again this week. 
• Only one debut this week: a volume of Toilet-bound Hanako-kun that was released back in early December.
• The University Effect kicks into gear this week, though a bit more later and muted than in Januaries past (like coronavirus related...) The re-appearance of March: Book One this week at a similar sales level as other books like Persepolis, Fun Home, Understanding Comics & Watchmen suggests that March may be joining the college comics canon.
• Wash your hands. Wear a face mask when in public, enclosed spaces. Practice sensible social distancing. Read comics!

Commentary: 

• The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, stays on top of the chart again this week. Despite having been out for over a year now (it was released in October 2019) it is still racking up the sales: it is #12 this week on the overall Amazon chart, and #3 on the Publisher's Weekly chart. And despite all this it isn't talked about at all in the comics-verse. Yes, I know that it's status as a comic is somewhat borderline, but it's just as much a comic—if not moreso—than Wimpy Kid.
• But sure, let's talk about how the first issue of Star Wars: The High Republic has over 200K of sales in the direct market. While a good amount of those sales are from speculation and multiple covers, there's at least enough actual interest in the comic as something to read to make the Kindle edition the top debut for this week.
• Other debuts this week are mostly new volumes of manga: Black Clover, Spy x Family, and the Kindle edition of My Hero Academia, Vol. 26. The final new title is Sketch's An Epitaph for Professionalism, squeezing in at the #50 spot.

• The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, stays on top of the chart again this week. It was the #2 book back on the first week of 2020, but moved to the top in the second week of 2020; it spent more weeks at the top of the Amazon chart than any other comic in 2020, and may be poised to do the same in 2021.
• The top debut this week is a Marvel Comics Mini-Books Collectible Boxed Set, spurred on perhaps by gift card redemptions?
• Also debuting this week are the first volume of manga series Am I Actually the Strongest?, and a Zero volume for the manga series Jujutsu Kaisen; manga publishers, do not learn from U.S. comics publishers the stupidity of the #0 issue, I beg of you!!!
• Rounding out new titles on this first day of the new year are three 2021 calendars: the Heart and Brain 2021 Wall Calendar; Sarah's Scribbles 2021 Wall Calendar: Adulthood is a Myth; and the Pearls Before Swine 2021 Day-to-Day Calendar. In all, eleven spots are taken up this week by comics calendars.
