Commentary:

* It looks like Chester Brown's Paying for It will have some legs, as it jumps back up to the #3 slot this week.

* The only new books on the list this week come in near the bottom, with collections of American Vampire, Batgirl, Invincible Iron Man, and Captain America.

* Both Astonishing X-Men Omnibus and The Adventures of Tintin return to the list this week, both having not been seen here since back in 2010.

Free Comic Book Month ending early

Sorry to say that Free Comic Book Month 7 is ending early; no more entries will be accepted. Also, this will likely be the last time I do Free Comic Book Month.

Over the course of seven years, I have given away 721 comics to 295 people. Hopefully you all have enjoyed your comics. It's been (mostly) fun, but all good things must come to an end.

Commentary:

* The top debut this week is Castle: Deadly Storm, the Marvel-produced tie-in graphic novel for the television series. It doesn't come out until September, but got a big push at the start of the season finale earlier this week.

* Marvel also have the other debuts this week: Fantastic Four by John Byrne Omnibus up at #14; and Ultimate Comics: Doomsday sneaking in at #49.

* Thor by Walter Simonson Omnibus slips a good bit to #20 this week; but still, its several week run in the top 10 is quite impressive for at $100+ book.

Commentary:

* The top debut this week is Chester Brown's Paying for It. Last week's top-ten debut, the newest Lunch Lady, slips off the chart completely. The only other debut this week is the latest Negima! volume, waaay down at #50.

* The massive Simonson Thor hardcover continues to do well; this is the rare instance when a Marvel super-hero movie has such demonstrable coattails for a particular collected edition; all the more impressive when you realize that it's a very expensive edition.
