Meme me with your 5 questions

Everybody's doing it, so I figure I should throw my hat into the 5 Questions Meme.

You know how it works: Use the comments to ask me 5 questions, and you'll get 5 answers.

(I'm sure I'll regret this...)

Well, here we go - five questions:

1) What is your all-time favorite comic?

2) Who put the bomp in the bomp shoo-bomp, and as a corrollary, who put the ding in the rama-lama-ding-dong.

3) If you could only choose one comic to read on a desert island, which one would you choose?

4) Which Doctor Who is your favorite?

and finally,

5) Should the U.S. take over Canada?

1) What is your all-time favorite comic?

I'm going to go with an obvious choice: Watchmen.

2) Who put the bomp in the bomp shoo-bomp, and as a corrollary, who put the ding in the rama-lama-ding-dong.

I'm sorry, you're not cleared for that.

3) If you could only choose one comic to read on a desert island, which one would you choose?

Again, I'm going with Watchmen, mainly because everytime I read it I discover something new.

4) Which Doctor Who is your favorite?

Sylvester McCoy. I never cared much for Dr. Who until I saw the McCoy & Ace episodes.

and finally,

5) Should the U.S. take over Canada?

No, but perhaps the other way around...

1. What is your all-time favorite question?

"What's the difference between an orange?"

2. How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll pop?

Three.

3. What superhero do you love for completely irrational reasons?

Air Wave.

4. Have you ever read "The Beauty Supply District" by Ben Katchor?

No, sorry. Is it any good?

And because of my blog...
5. Who's your favorite Superman artist?

Curt Swan. I own four pages of original Curt Swan art from Superman. Not too long before he died, Swan was a guest at the Motor City Comicon, but I was deathly ill and couldn't attend. A friend brought me back a copy of Superman #423 signed by Swan & Perez.

that is so cool that you own curt swan art, definitely check out Ben Katchor, I discovered him cause he did artwork for an REM album, his comics are senseless and richly emotional at the same time

1. Which super-hero characters should get their own prime-time soap opera next?

Wonder Woman. No, wait, Air Wave.

2. Single issues or trades?

Both. I buy singles of series I've been buying for a long time, or I figure will never get collected , or I just can't wait, or I want to support the creator(s). I'll wait for the trade if I'm sure it'll probably get collected, as it's usually more economical and you don't have to wade through ads. Occasionally I'll double-buy, like I do with Promethea, Finder, Strangehaven, and I did with Sandman.

3. Decompression: good, bad, or ugly?

Depends on how it's done. Some writers can decompress and make it seem like something is happening; they use the decompression to examine the characters, etc. Others just seem to be strecthing things out to fit an alloted number of pages.

4. Are those women on the cover of Catwoman 35 springing into action or being dragged to the ground by the weight of their boobs?

I think they need to visit a chiropractor, and soon!

5. If you could experience a summer crossover with the lives of three famous (or notorious) people, who would they be?

Philip K. Dick, Teddy Roosevelt, Ashley Judd.

1. Who's the man?

This week it's Jon Stewart.

2. What's your favorite movie?

Brazil (but strangely I don't own it on DVD...)

3. What do you do for a living?

Librarian.

4. Why did you start blogging?

I like to share my opinions with anyone willing to listen to or read them. I actually started a blog a couple of years ago, but gave it up after a couple of weeks. This is my second try at a blog.

5. What is your most prized possession?

A Guideposts Parallel Bible that belonged to my late grandmother. It's both sentimental and practical.

Yeah, I bought them several years ago on eBay. I was looking around the other day for the scans of the pages, but can't find them anywhere. They're all framed & matted now, so scanning would be a pain...

I've never seen it, but I want to. Too bad the DVD costs like a bazillion dollars.

That's what God created Netflix for. Make sure you get the Director's but, not the studio "Love Conquers All" version.

Right, fanboy geek version:
1. Superman or Batman?
2. Green Arrow or Hawkeye?
3. Aquaman or Submariner?
4. Avengers or JLA?
5. 'Mazing Man or Howard the Duck?
Bonus point: Utility belt or cape?

1. Superman or Batman?

Superman.

2. Green Arrow or Hawkeye?

No real preference; Green Arrow works better in solo stories, whilest Hawkeye is better as a team player.

3. Aquaman or Submariner?

Aquaman.

4. Avengers or JLA?

JLA. Satellite era version. (Giffen version runs a close 2nd)

5. 'Mazing Man or Howard the Duck?

'Mazing man. Hey, DC, when's the trade coming?

Bonus point: Utility belt or cape?

Cape. Especially if it's one of those huge frickin' Todd McFarlane capes.
