Tania del Rio Returns to Sabrina

Tania del Rio's run on Archie Comics' Sabrina was the best thing published by Archie, well, probably ever. However, the 'manga-fied' version of the Teen-Age Witch never really caught on with Archie fans; but despite relatively low sales her story was allowed to run its course over nearly five years (issues #58-100), a respectable run by any measure.

Now tucked away quietly in page 218 of the December Previews is Archie & Friends #152. The story "All's Fair in Love and Food" finds Jughead seeking help from Sabrina to curb his love of food. And the story is written by none other than... (as if you couldn't guess from the lead-up) Tania del Rio!

It looks like this is the classic Sabrina, not del Rio's manga-ish version, but any Sabrina written by del Rio is worth a look.

Commentary:

* The Wimpy Kid slips to #4 on the overall bestseller chart. It looks like his dreams of being #1 are not to be, foiled for weeks by George W. Bush.

* Suddenly and without warning, Amazon once again decides to classify the fifth Scott Pilgrim volume as a comic, and it returns to the charts. It's a Christmas miracle!

* 40: A Doonesbury Retrospective continues its steady climb up the charts and lands in the top ten for the first time this week.

* The only debut this week is the first Brightest Day collection, way down at #45.

* Marvel is completely shut out of the Amazon Top 50 this week.

* Dead Watch: Most of the titles slip just a bit, but there's still fourteen Walking Dead collections in the top fifty this week.

* The bottom of the top fifty list is #1,852 on the overall rankings this week.

* Wimpy coattails: Dork Diaries books see a boost with the release of the new Wimpy Kid, with volume 2 moving up into the top ten.

* Dead Watch: Fourteen of the top Fifty books are Walking Dead collections.

* The only debut this week is the Garfield desk calendar at #48.

* The bottom of the top fifty list is #2,080 on the overall chart this week.
