DC Bites the Bullet

Back in October I suggested that DC dump its 70s-era logo for something new and different.

Now it looks like DC have taken my advice*, and later this month will debut a new logo on the first issue of The Return of Donna Troy, to be followed on the rest of their line starting in June.

So nice to see that DC will finally put away their bell bottoms and mood rings and join the 21st Century!

* Not that I think anyone there actually read my little article. But I'm happy to see that they came to the same conclusion that I did.

I'm not neccesarily upset that DC is replacing their classic logo (okay I am, a little bit)... I just wish they weren't replacing it with _this_ one. It looks like all the other boring, plastic logos I see for dot-com startups and expansion sports franchises.

It does sort of have a designed-by-committee look to it.

I agree with Seth. It looks like a logo for Washington's indoor soccer team or something.

Please welcome your DC SOOOOPERSTAAAAAAARRRRRSSSSS!!!!

Actually, I think it looks like a detergent logo....

"DC! For all your household cleaning needs!"

It looks to me like something that's going to spin. They're saying, "you won't believe it when you see it animated before Batman Begins!" Well ... I bet the shooting star thing around it spins. And it kind of looks like they were going for something that they knew could spin before a DC movie or TV show, kind of like the old DIC logo.

Spin on, DC. Spin on.

I hope it looks better spinning. So far, I think the original was more exciting. At least, it was different.
