I learned yesterday from our Art & Design librarian that one of the new faculty members at our School of Art & Design is none other than Phoebe Gloeckner. As an assistant professor, one of the courses she'll be teaching is on comics. How cool is that?
I've been meaning to get to reading some of her work, so now I have a good excuse. I've checked out A Child's Life and Other Stories and I'll try to get to it soon.
As far as I know, Prof. Gloeckner is one of only two cartoonists with a PhD--the other being Jay Hosler of course. Are there any others?
